Highlight Reels & Social Media
Social media. The #1 reason we cannot keep our noses out of our phones! As a whole, we have become so incredibly consumed with social media, wondering what other people are doing, trying to post things to get likes, trying to please others, and it is really insane! Social media is filled with numerous pages, some inspirational, others of celebrities, and some of just regular people like me and you. I really want to shift gears and focus this more on fitness Instagram pages.
Fitness pages are awesome! Super inspirational, helpful and for the most part genuine. I run my own business through Instagram, so I can really relate to this. I know what it’s like to want to only post the best-looking picture of yourself. The one with the best lighting, best angle, best everything! You want it to look perfect for everyone to see.
Over the past year I’ve had numerous of my own clientele tell me “I want to look like so and so, her body is so perfect” And that really got to me because I know for a fact that this person edits their pictures and photo shops x y and z away because she actually did a post about it months later. Social media is a HUGE highlight reel. You’re probably not going to see an unflattering, raw, unedited picture of a girl who has 1.6 million followers, it’s just not going to happen. It’s understandable, and it is not necessarily wrong! But at the end of the day I want each and every one of you to realize that NO ONE looks perfect all the time! Do not compare yourself to anyone, especially Instagram photos, you’re beautiful just the way you are. Just remember, no one subconsciously posts a picture hoping no one will like it.
