Invest In Yourself Now To Save Later!
We all make excuses as to why we "can't" live a healthier life, and #TheStruggleIsReal for me too. I say I'm too busy or sometimes too lazy. One of the most common excuses is that being healthy is too expensive. But you know what is more expensive than that? Medical Bills!
Living a healthy lifestyle not only rewards your body, but also your wallet. Consistently staying active, eating healthy, having enjoyable experiences and meditating prevents chronic diseases, cancer, diabetes and stress among other things.
Working out at least 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week reduces the average American's amount of sick days by 25%, according to David Niem professor at Appalachian University.
Exercise lowers the risk of stroke by 27%, high blood pressure by 50%, and breast cancer by 50%. These are all costly diseases and the price to pay is rising annually.
Because many gyms, studios, and community classes offer family and seasonal discounts, working out is more affordable. We are amongst those with our monthly unlimited weekly Group Training classes and seasonal specials. Thankfully, the beautiful city of New Orleans is the perfect setting for a sunset run/walk on a beautiful November evening.
At the end of the day we make time and invest in things and people that are important to us. We have no problem going to dinner and happy hours spending $100, seeing our favorite musical artist, having season tickets to our favorite sports team, and so much more.
Why can't we put that same value on our health? Going to dinner, having a cocktail with friends, attending a game or concert are all great and enhance our emotional health, but do you know what else does? Investing in our mind, body, and soul by truly putting ourselves first. So the next time you want to take a fun fitness class, see a healthy treat you like, or a massage that's oh-so-needed, don't allow yourself to make excuses. Invest in yourself now to save later.
There is an amazing series photographer, Tom Hussey did that April shared with me called Reflection Series. It's so powerful. Check out a few of the photos HERE.
Now that you know how affordable a healthy lifestyle can be, what's your excuse? Time to Treat Ya' Self ;)
